She completed her full certification in the Classical Pilates method through Body in Balance in 2004 and ever since has been deeply committed to continuing her education and understanding in all methods of Pilates and body work. She has traveled all over the United States including Hawaii, and all over the world, including France, Australia, Greece, Costa Rica, Spain and Bali to deepen her understanding of Pilates.“I had an understanding at a young age that exercise and health were important. I tried many forms of exercise to try to keep my body healthy, including fencing, kick boxing and biking. While in culinary school I focused my attention on healthy cooking. I pursued my black belt in martial arts and while training for the Aids ride I gained an understanding of the mind-body connection that changed my course in life. As I trained for the Aids ride doing century ride, after century ride, I realized the goal of riding over 535 miles in 5 & 1/2 days was more mental than physical. I also realized that it was the encouragement from others that helped me every step of the way. The reward and joy I felt by reaching my goal left an imprint. I realized I wanted to help and encourage other people reach their goals as well.
The desire to help people led me to become certified as a personal trainer through AFAA. After watching many individuals spend fruitless hours at the gym, my growing frustration and theirs sent me searching for the most effective form of exercise for my clients. I found what I was looking for in Pilates. I pursued my certification in Pilates with great enthusiasm, which required over 700 hours devoted directly to the classical Pilates method. Pilates is the mind-body exercise that allows people to effectively and efficiently obtain their goals. Supported by such a strong foundation, I continued to be trained in as many variations of Pilates as I could to have a well-rounded understanding of the work. I believe there isn’t just one way or style that works for everyone. Every body is different and all the variations of the different styles offer benefits for certain body types and issues.
I use my experience and extensive research to design lessons for my clients that best serve them for that day and in that moment, and to help them gain the skills that will take them to the next level. I believe in integrity of movement. I work with the body in front of me. My commitment is to helping people find the balance they need. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you safely and effectively to your personal goals and discover the benefits Pilates offers for the Mind, Body and Spirit”
